The fusion. Or the fusion?

Yes Pan, but four balls for this album can't be seen; for me, this is the best of Italian prog-jazz-rock. Perhaps in the jazz genre and similar, they were more "canonical" compared to the Area (who remain unbeatable and created a genre all their own, where the jazz-rock component was just one of many), but who cares. This record has three hexagonal balls. :D A sub-proletarian blast.

Oops Syd, I'm just reading the comment now :O look, it's a great album, 4 balls is a great rating! I really give very few 5s to Italian prog.

Until Tonight all supercazzuti (even on the beach), although my favorite remains After the Gold Rush. However, this is equally fabulous, a story of rock..

Splendid, I wouldn't swear it's worse than Harvest.

Neil Young: On the Beach

One of the best albums in the entire singer-songwriter genre (worldwide, yes). Ambulance Blues is one of the most staggering things, but See The Sky About To Rain and the title track are no less remarkable.

Ultimate album. Ambulance Blues is worth the career of most existing or past songwriters. On the Beach, Revolution Blues, and Motion Picture are no less.

    "Ambulance Blues",..
It's a challenging album, the first LP of the Australian singer-songwriter with the Seeds. The songs are anguished, and Cave's voice screams verses that are sometimes desperate, sometimes resigned, accompanied by music that moves forward dark and measured. Perhaps the best of the pathos can be found in the title track and in the long "A Box For Black Paul."

Uhm, I really can't see this as a 4. For me, it's the pinnacle of Cave, even more than the Birthday Party.

Let's just say that "Avalanche" is the most successful cover of Cohen that I've ever heard (personal opinion) and then there's "Cabin Fever!"...
  • pana
    5 jun 14
I'm not crazy about Cohen's cover... I mean, it's nice, but if I'm going to listen to some Cave songs, I won't end up on Avalanche.
Transition album, not easy to define. The lengthy "The Carny" stands out.

I think that both in terms of music and lyrics, this is one of my favorites; sometimes it happens with transitional albums.

Thanks to you from the site, I bought his first 3 albums and I must say I appreciate them. I don’t know this one, but from the way you talk about it, maybe it’s not worth the purchase..

Nick, don’t take it too hard; the young guy from the province is just getting started and still has a lot to learn from you. This piece I like, just like the rest of his career, without even a minor album...WOW...

de...but don't get me wrong, I adore Nick, especially Firstborn - Tender Prey - Good Son, and I gave this one four, not zero!
Hjhhjij, I haven't checked the lyrics yet honestly, for now I've just limited myself to listening to it :O

@hellraiser: it deserves, it truly deserves, just as much as the previous and the following ones, trust me. One of its deepest and most intimate. @pana, the lyrics are beautiful and very complex; lovely even when written by Anita Lane ("Stranger Than Kindness").

@pana; forgive me dear but my "joke" was referring to hellraiser, which was recently introduced by me and hjhjjij to the sound of Nick.

Yes, just like the following six then (Let Love In and the Murder Ballads are great albums even if they are a bit inferior to the previous ones and I adore The Boatman's Call), if it were up to me :) I limited myself to the '80s, in Berlin, for convenience but I haven’t forgotten The Good Son and Henry's Dream, don’t worry.
Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds: Tender Prey

We are faced with another amazing album, with particularly inspired texts. What was said about "The Good Son" holds true here; my favorite tracks are "The Mercy Seat," "Mercy," and "Slowly Goes The Night," but nothing goes to waste here either. Hero.

I think the drug-greater inspiration equation is foolish; however, Cave, when he was a junkie, released a string of unforgettable masterpieces.
  • hjhhjij
    3 jun 14
Indeed, the right addition is very often: "drugs + inspiration = better music," especially since the two addends often go hand in hand, as in the case of Cave.
  • Psychopathia
    4 jun 14
it's not the drug itself. by detoxing, he simply changed his lifestyle and habits: it's clear that the music is affected. for me, the best track is up jumped the devil, which sounds like tom waits.

Another beautiful album, with some wonderful tracks like Nobody's Baby Now and Thirsty Dog. Indeed, the BS were like tanks...
Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds: The Good Son
CD Audio I have it ★★★★★
In the discography of many of the greatest artists in history, this album could have been the pinnacle of it all, but in the case of Cave, the matter becomes incredibly thorny. In any case, the quality of melodies, lyrics, interpretation, and apocalyptic tension is at stratospheric levels, and the songs are all extraordinary. Personal favorites include the title track, Ship Song, and Lament.
