I should be somewhere between devastated and pissed off, but considering there are people throwing 1, 2, and 3 at this album, maybe claiming that "they were already over" (I swear, this really happened), it doesn’t affect me as much. But I don’t agree, also because S.Ray represents the pure essence of the VU, it’s probably their definitive track (even though it’s not my absolute favorite).

Great record jh... "Ray Sister" is an absolute masterpiece, a ragged noise orgy distinctly branded VU, which was represented live each time in a different way and length. Cale is the "devil's knight, croaking on his viola, on the black gallows, to the sound of a sad pastoral:::". For me, here, they meet my wonderfully "cursed" tastes. No one can take away those five big balls.
Enough Heroin. But there is more than just Heroin.

Incredible how much I’ve reassessed this album that I adored years ago. Yes, there are some good parts here and there...but I find it too pompous and polished to be a Who album. I now appreciate them mostly only up to Who's Next (which I've also slightly reassessed downwards), and I give this one a stretched pass.
The Who: The Who Sell Out
CD Audio I have it ★★★★
Townshend and companions shed their rebellious boyhood personas and kick off their series of masterpieces with a bizarre album, almost "Zappa-esque."
The Who: A Quick One

A quickie. A transitional album, interesting but it doesn't amaze me.

A journey in that limbo that divides voice and magic. An album of overwhelming beauty, in a certain sense on par with Starsailor.
Tim Buckley: Goodbye And Hello
CD Audio I have it ★★★★★
What a thing! Not at the level of Starsailor and Lorca, but for me, it’s already a wonderful marvel, at every level. The beauty of tracks like "Once I Was," "Phantasmagoria in Two," "Pleasant Street," and the title track is superior.

I don't know, Gieffo is just way below for me. "Grace" is a great album, sure, but then what? Enough, due to bad luck. Timoteo has released 5-6 amazing albums, all in a row... And there's "Starsailor," which is a TOTAL masterpiece.

I know I’m a pain in the ass, and I understand that Waits' '80s are rightly remembered for the wonderful triad, but this is the fifth one counting One From the Heart from the '80s :) I agree with the essence of the definition though. Sooner or later you have to listen to "Big Time." Now I’ll stop bothering you.

Pleasant and interesting album, but far from the brilliant chaos of "Pawn Hearts" (perhaps the most beautiful and important prog album ever conceived). Here, instead, it's calmer and with fewer virtuoso displays. (3 stars, which isn't bad)

Well, I get it, but when a prog-head (like me) starts saying, "Well, nice, great instrumental sections, cool idea... yeah, but... what a watered-down broth... so boring," there's something wrong, because it doesn't happen with the previous ones.

In many ways, it's a watered-down broth, but where is the beauty and inspiration of the previous three albums? This is a beautifully played album but completely soulless, and that's not a good thing. Bruford had already escaped, and even Wakeman will go into hiding after this diluted behemoth.

Let's say it's a strong two, but I can't bring it to a three. There are good moments, I won't argue that, but overall I find it unmanageable in terms of duration and dispersion.
