Four out of six died on the cursed plane with Otis Redding. It would be good to remember them as the greatest backing band of instrumental R&B, alongside Booker T. & the MG's and the Mar-Kays.

I don't know what job you do, but I suggest you do something related to music. Damn, you know everything... You're a living "musical" encyclopedia... Thanks again imasoulman (after all, your nickname already says something...).

Please, even though I don't know what you should thank me for...;)) Knowing the Bar-Kays? Well, for me, ever since James Brown struck me on the path of Black music, it has been a contractual obligation with myself.

The collaboration with Jimmy Page has left behind some dirtier riffs than usual. Not at its best but there's still some flashes here. My rating: 3.6.

It's hard for me to remember a band more 'confused' than the Cult. They started off goth, back when goth and new wave were at their peak. After the boom of that hair metal/street/glam crap, they turned in that direction too, only to embrace grunge in the '90s with their last self-titled work in '94, if I recall correctly. This has always made me see them as "jumping on the bandwagon of the winners." Even if that album wasn't bad at all. I should give it a listen again...

They reached the peaks later, yet I really like this very "post-punk" debut; it's a little gem. And in this early 1980 version, there's an extra "Killing An Arab" compared to the already beautiful '79 version, which is not a small feat because for me, it’s one of their best songs.
