Andrea Chimenti: L'albero pazzo
CD Audio I have it ★★★★
Songwriting in evolution. New forms of musical life at the end of the millennium.
The best album by Chimenti, in my humble opinion.
Andrea Chimenti: Qohelet
CD Audio I have it ★★★
A cross between an audiobook and a music CD. Not easy to listen to but very deep.
Angelo Branduardi: Futuro Antico
CD Audio I have it ★★★
The first in a series of works by Branduardi aimed at recovering and re-proposing medieval musical traditions, featuring both secular and sacred pieces. An interesting effort, but not at the top of my discography.
When you fish for a classic like this, you can’t go wrong.
Daniele Silvestri: Sig. Dapatas
CD Audio I have it ★★★★
Last album "thought out." Then fatigue sets in, the emptiness...
Fun music but not essential. Some tracks are from genres that are too distant from the album's horizon. Bregovic is missing.
Enrico Ruggeri: Oggetti smarriti
CD Audio I have it ★★★★
Aside from a few silly ballads, it's a good album. Some prog-like references make certain tracks particularly enjoyable.
Catchy title. Yet another "bullet" live that definitively kills my already weak esteem for De Gregori. After that, I no longer had the desire to listen to anything of his.
Franco Battiato: l'imboscata
CD Audio I have it ★★★
Rock sounds of remarkable quality thanks to excellent musicians. One of the most valid albums of the philosophical phase. Perhaps only Gommalacca surpasses it.
The latest (and perhaps last, but I don't know if least) album by Battiato. An orchestral collection with an unheard track that feels like an epitaph: the moving title track.
...but I'm not sure if I will listen to the rest.

I recently saw a video (I think) of Battiato where he had short hair and a long beard. Damn, he looks just like John Turturro!

Why? Don't you know? Turturro is Battiato's son!

Ah, okay, sure! The "mystical" period when he had a long beard. 26 years ago. Recent, compared to Fetus and Pollution... ;)

Recently, I don't know anything about Battiato. I can't stand him.

To each their own... but you broke my heart.
Frank Capra: Arsenico e vecchi merletti
CD Audio I have it ★★★★★
Beautiful noir comedy. It doesn't show its age.
A missed opportunity, a fake reunion, since everyone recorded their part separately. A track simply updated in sound.
But for me, it’s always love!
Genesis: Spot The Pigeon (EP)
CD Audio I have it ★★★★
A splendid piece (Inside and out is among my favorite tracks from the four-piece era) and two insipid ones. The hinge between one way of composing and another, between the desire to architect complex structures and the wish for an easy piece (even when it’s only seemingly so: read Turn it on again).

I can't appreciate them, and I'm easy to please! But from ...And Then There Were Three… onward, apart from a few things, I find them terrible... I prefer Phil Collins solo (I'm not joking).

I prefer Face Value to ...And then there were three..., but I prefer the worst album by Genesis to all the others by Phil (maybe I would save But Seriously).
John Lee Hancock: Saving Mr. Banks
DVD Video I have it ★★★★
Romantic? Yes, but not only, not in the sense of a classic love story.
Historical? In a way yes, it romanticizes a true story.
Dramatic? Just enough, like salt in recipes.
Metacinematographic? Yes, if that term exists.
I, having grown up with Mary Poppins, liked it.
Lenine: Na Pressão
CD Audio I have it ★★★★
Brilliant, lively, thrilling, rascal, a patchwork of sounds, tipsy, a toast to Lenine.
Luciano De Crescenzo: Così Parlò Bellavista
File Video I have it ★★★★
A film still fresh, after 35 years.
A series of sketches to present the most charming Neapolitan character, even in its contradictions, infused with De Crescenzo's philosophical approach, from the praise of doubt to the dichotomy between men of love and men of freedom.
LUCIO DALLA: canzoni
CD Audio I have it ★★
The last sparks, a few passages truly worth noting. Too much already heard. What a shame.
Mango: Dove vai... Live
CD Audio I have it ★★★
An album that raises the qualitative bar of the discography of the Lucanian singer-songwriter. A rich and precise voice, with arrangements that offer broader horizons to songs that sometimes feel a bit stale with their overly "80s" sounds in the studio versions. Some noteworthy melodies. The 2 new tracks are pleasant but not essential.
Maria Luigia Troiano: Dieci anni
Cartaceo I lack ★★★★
The dreams of a young woman crash against the political and cultural crisis of Berlusconi's Italy.
Memory as an antidote and a resource for a better tomorrow.
Articles, photos, and songs kept to fight against the temptation to succumb to racism, violations of rights, and superficiality elevated to the status of show business.
A refreshing sip of water, enjoyable and very well written.
Olivia Newton-John: Physical
CD Audio I have it ★★★
A very easy hit, with a video that hints at the cult/culture (-> bodybuilding) of body care. A fun video with a gay-friendly ending. B-side composed by her, with an environmental theme.
Pat Metheny: Passaggio per il paradiso
CD Audio I have it ★★★
It's not among his best albums. Among the soundtracks, it's better than the almost useless "Map of the World," but well below "The Falcon and The Snowman."

Wait, I haven't heard this, but the first piece of Map of the World, which also gives the album its title, is one of the miracles of the 1900s. The rest, honestly, I don't remember; I haven't listened to it since then, I think.

So you... haven't heard it since then? Since 1900? I'm left flabbergasted.

Peter Gabriel: Growing up live
CD Audio I have it ★★★★
Great live performance that spans Peter Gabriel's discography, favoring the latest works. The swan song, unfortunately.
Pink Martini: Hey Eugene!
CD Audio I have it ★★★★
Kaleidoscope of sounds, a fan of fresh and precious tracks like tiny diamonds fished out from a chest that has been moldy and buried for too long.
To be reviewed.
Pino Marino: Non bastano i fiori
CD Audio I have it ★★★
Singer-songwriter, that beautiful fresh one from the new millennium.
Flowers are not enough; we need the songs of Pino Marino.
Simple pieces but almost all enjoyable.
Pino Marino: Acqua luce e gas
CD Audio I have it ★★★
Beautiful album, refined in style but less impactful than its predecessor.
Riccardo Zappa: Definire significa limitare
CD Audio I have it ★★★★
Just his 12-string guitar is enough to produce a full and engaging sound. From the sweetest tracks to the most rhythmic ones, it takes you on a sea of deep and brilliant sounds.
13 pieces by Zappa expertly reworked by him. Being the only work I know, I can only define it, but it deserves a top-notch review.
Samuele Bersani: Samuele Bersani
CD Audio I have it ★★★★
The qualitative leap of the Romagnolo singer-songwriter.

I don’t remember that one; from this album, I’ve only blasted a few select songs. It’s the first record where our guy started to get serious, and I think he’s grown a lot with the subsequent ones, which I listen to in full.

    I agree.
Consider that the Albanian Barcarola is a track from the album Freak, here featured as a ghost track.
Crazy boy is a song written for Fiorella Mannoia, found in the album Gente comune from 1994. Bersani's version is much more beautiful, harmonized in a decidedly original way.

In short, good job on the first try.

I stumbled upon this definition again and saw that I wrote "l'ha trovo." What a horror. This happens when I stubbornly write with swift, without checking what has come out. I apologize.
Tazenda: Murales
CD Audio I have it ★★★★
A surprising album.
The three members of the band bring out the best in themselves in terms of composition, arrangements, and execution.
Traditional Sardinian music and rock blended with extraordinary naturalness.
