    Well, here we are!
  • No, we’re not there: the Latin "groove," warm, powerful, and sensual from the first three albums of his career, already creaking in the fourth work "Caravanserai," which still had its own "fusion" and "atmospheric" charm starting from the cover, is here replaced by a mix of watered-down fusion and conventional rhythm & blues melodies, formulaic, without mystery, without sensuality. The rockers Gregg Rolie and Neal Schon have run off, uninterested in this evolution, and are replaced by precise and skilled yet anonymous and insignificant jazz/fusion players. The Carlos Santana with the smoky, acid eyes of Woodstock has vanished, and now there’s a man in white who praises his guru and places his passionate guitar over jazz-rock and R&B standards that are forgotten five minutes after listening to them. For me, thumbs down.

I dread to think of your judgment on what comes next... it's true that this album represents a departure from the earlier works, but Santana still seems very much alive and kicking to me... de gustibus.

eerie fjords as magnificent as they are, pristine glaciers, endless lava fields to get lost in, magnificent waterfalls adorned with rainbows... this is Iceland, and if you close your eyes while listening to their children, it will feel like you're flying over it! Enjoy
