The Pond's one is a disappointment with those sounds... The Mondo Drag have turned into a hard rock band... The Moon Duo are nice for a couple of listens but nothing new. The best among those I've heard remains "Irreal."

I am listening these days to Cosmic Letdown Венера | Cosmic Letdown (free download). Spectres "Dying". The Myrrors "Arena Negra" and H. Hawkline "In The Pink Of Condition," psychedelic pop like I haven't heard in a while.

Thank you for the advice; of the ones I posted, the only one that convinces me is that of Blind Idiot God.

Yes, Moon Duo have already delivered, and Mondo Drag is too much of a revival. Instead, even though nothing new for me, Follakzoid are still valid: certain sounds make me tingle. But so far I've only bought my fellow townspeople Vanessa Van Basten.

Did the new Heroin In Tahiti come out? Good, I'll look for it. I can't get my hands on the compilation "Nostra Signora Delle Tenebre," basically Italian psychedelia, Heroin in Tahiti, Squadra Omega, Mamuthones............ they take pieces from 70s B Movie soundtracks.. The Sonic Jesus album isn't bad either, it's too long (90 minutes) but it's not bad, maybe it would have been better with some cuts.

  • Great, I'll note them all down to listen to them in 2017 (just kidding, but maybe it will really end up that way).

Cortar Todo left me feeling a bit like that, should I give it another chance?

It left me a bit like that too. Here are some things I listened to this year, but few convinced me. Aside from Il Volo.

  • You got me, I went to see what *Il Volo* was :D

In my opinion, the White Hills are quite ugly. Sometimes they seem like an electro wave band.

Yes, it's immediately clear from the cover that the times of Heads on Fire are far behind.

Hey colossus two albums in a year? Can you tell me how the latest one compares to "In Black and Gold"? ... which I liked quite a bit. Thanks :-)

Radio Static High is less metal and more psychedelic rock.

2 records and a split, please. Hey Colossus / Hotel Wrecking City Traders - Split 12" | Wild Animals Records Or rather, two amazing records and a split. I preferred the black & gold edition, but the black & gold is my favorite record of the year, maybe I’m biased.

I prefer the last one: more varied, more "accessible," it has kraut, a lot of new wave (I like it even though the new-wave revival usually annoys me), alt rock, and it never sounds overly calligraphic. It’s cohesive and, I realize, among all of them, it’s the one that sounds least like hey colossus.

Exactly: it's more accessible, and that's not good. And let's be clear, even "Black & Gold" isn't exactly a particularly demanding listen, quite the opposite. I mean, again: "Black" is my album of the year, which means it's been in heavy rotation since February; "Radio Static" is much younger, has fewer listens under its belt, and that surely also affects my judgment of the work.

And then I really don't know how to pinpoint a true genre for "Black & Gold" (a thousand yes, but one that encompasses them all that isn’t heavy psych, I can’t find). And even there: it’s not that heavy of an album, after all. To say: you were mentioning "metal" before, referring to the fact that "Radio Static High" was less so, and your point was crystal clear to anyone reading, and that was perfectly fine. However, if you tell someone that "Black & Gold" is a "metal album," you’re misleading them (I hope what I'm trying to say is clear).

As for the statement: "among all, it sounds the least like Hey Colossus," I don’t agree. Or rather: the last eight albums are all different; the first four had doom tracks, stoner tracks, post-metal tracks... we’re always in heavy psych, okay, but "Project Death" and "Hates You" didn’t sound so similar (by the way, I really can’t stand "Project Death").

Thank you Fest. Thank you Nes ... I'll get this one as well then. I really enjoyed it a lot in Black And Gold too. And I really wouldn't know how to define it.

I was trying to find a way to connect with what you’re saying and linking their first piece. However, it has nothing to do with it... So, I don’t know, just gratuitous: because the doom flipping synapses is always a good and right thing, even when it’s off-topic.

maybe it didn't excite you and that's why it's missing (I just heard it and wasn't thrilled, but first listens often mean little), or maybe it's just missing because you didn't know it was out, so here’s the link for you: Hexadic II at Juno Records

Yes, I knew it was out and no, I haven't listened to it. Because Ben Chasny playing with the cards seems like a bit of a self-serving thing to me.
