DeRank : 44,17 • DeAge™ : 4466 days

Scoperto di recente, mi ha colpito molto. Bellissimo
Riscoperto dopo alcuni anni, davvero un capolavoro.

3

King Crimson • In the Court of the Crimson King: An Observation by King Crimson

Il mio primo amore prog, magnetico.

4

Van der Graaf Generator • H to He, Who Am the Only One

9

Van der Graaf Generator • The Least We Can Do Is Wave to Each Other

Ascoltato ed apprezzato molto di recente, sono rimasto colpito molto positivamente.
Devo ancora farci un pò l'orecchio ma penso possa scalare alcune posizioni in questa classifica.
Grande classico, sempre un piacere ascoltarlo.
Ascoltato nuovamente dopo alcuni anni, molto bello.

Beautiful :) Which Gentle Giant albums do you have?

This, Octopus and Aquiring the Taste, recently reassessed.. yesterday I made an effort and after about an hour I rediscovered Van Der Graaf, buried under a tide of records. Listened to yesterday afternoon and this morning, really beautiful. Anyway, this is a "limited" ranking if we want, I hope to broaden my listening, I’m still a novice compared to you veterans...

Excellent, excellent, excellent the rediscovery of Van Der Graaf I can't say anything else. And also of Gentle Giant, which certainly aren't easy for more or less novice listeners of certain sounds, especially Octopus. Acquiring the Taste is my favorite but also the first one you posted here is beautiful (the most straightforward and still influenced by Blues/Rock).

To broaden the listening experience, there would be among the more "calm" options the Renaissance, for example, while for more elaborate choices, some branches of Canterbury (Gong above all, though I struggle to define them as progressive) like Hatfield and the North. And then there would be Comus ("First Utterance") and their Folk-Dark-Prog. And High Tide.

I'm more knowledgeable in other genres, however in recent years I've listened to various progressive bands with great pleasure and, although I'm not as experienced as many of you, I've put together my personal ranking...

Anyway, in the top 5 there are only albums by King Crimson, VDGG, and Genesis, for me it’s practically the perfect ranking :D I think you would really like Nursery Cryme by Genesis.

I have all the Genesis albums (including live ones) up to Seconds Out, I really like them but I haven't dedicated much time to them in recent years; I rediscovered them thanks to Debaser...

That's why I love Debaser, you can't imagine the stuff it has helped me discover/reassess. I repeat: I think Nursery Cryme is perfect for you ;)

Bold to include Can and Ash Ra, which frankly are a bit of a different thing compared to Prog. Very progressive, not progressive :) But I'm happy because it means you liked them quite a bit.

Very beautiful, the must-haves are there, then the order matters little.

I've picked up a few new prog albums lately and added them with pleasure because I really liked them. You have to understand, though, that I'm a pioneer of the genre; it’s only in the last year that I’ve delved into it a bit more, especially thanks to you expert colleagues. I've "discovered America," and I'm slowly colonizing it, thanks!

Nice ranking :) If you want, check mine out... we have many albums in common ;) In the Court of the Crimson King is my all-time favorite album.

I’ve already seen yours, excellent. Anyway, for me the first of the KC is a show, it’s on par with Red.

Interesting ranking, even though my preferences lie elsewhere. Regardless of your taste and mine, having Pawn Hearts this high excites me. Curious that Red is first. I will make sure to give it another listen. :)

"Red" is anything but "curious". It should be there by law. Even today, it might be the "prog" album that's the freshest and most modern in sounds and ideas.

Red is interesting, but I will always prefer "In The Court Of The Crimson King." Red is a great album, cohesive.

Indeed, "Red," after having listened to it again, I see it in a somewhat different light. It is a masterpiece.

It matches the debut, perhaps it even surpasses it...
