No, well done Hell. We only met this year and it’s thanks to you that I’ve put them at the top of my ranking. So thank you :-)

Well, the QOTSA have churned out an album that I could almost call pop.

The QOTSA were coming from a musically speaking "meager and sparse" period compared to their early days. It didn't take much to climb back up a bit.

Come on, Rolando with the usual "oh, but they were better in the early days." They were different in the early days; does that necessarily mean better? In the latest album, I hear things that Homme could only dream of in '98. The hardcore fans (I'm not saying you're one of them, okay?) want Songs for the Deaf forever. I hear improvements in composition, in production, in influences! If others want the ignorant rock of the early albums, they should listen to the early albums!

I don't like them either, but having listened to a bit of everything from them, I gave my judgment. That is, making something decent after the last period wasn't difficult. The last one is a good album anyway. For me, they have nothing more to say.

But I completely agree that recently they've produced some minor works, but for me, this is not just good, it’s on par with their early levels! Then to claim that they have nothing left to say just now that they’ve minimally changed course (successfully in my opinion) is a contradiction.

Zanna is right, they have evolved. This album is certainly different from the timeless gems of the past, and in this suffocating 2013, I struggle to find something that I liked more. So here it is, at the top with a solid work regardless of comparisons with the latest flops (which, by the way, only Era Vulgaris was really ugly). Just my personal opinion, eh...

But in fact it's not worse, it's just different! The flatbread with mortadella is delicious, but if I turn it into a vol au vent with bolognese deli meat mousse and a pistachio garnish, it's evolved but still tasty! Then you can tell me that I, who eat vol au vent, am a posh type, and you with the flatbread are a cool rugged type, but I don't care, I listen to my ears!
