I find Octavarium to be of an abhorrent ugliness. It puts in 24 minutes what, to stay within the genre, Queensryche encapsulates in the 1... but do you know Operation Mindcrime?

However, I would like to express my complete disagreement with your statement about Octavarium :->

For the rest, nice ranking, I almost forgot.

Really, seeing Octavarium before Lizard and Nine Feet just blows my mind. :-) I would suggest: The Garden of the Magician, Mumps, Thick as a Brick, Echoes, Moon in June, Valentyne Suite, Hemisphere, Larks' Tongues in Aspic, Awaken, De Futura, Alpha Centauri, Ars Longa Vita Brevis, Hergest Ridge, Eruption, Sheherazade, Slow Dance, The Geese and the Ghost, Salcreep's Day, The Snow Goose, LegEnd, damn how many others... maybe even some in the new prog.

Okay, but let's not mix suites with minisuites or concept albums.

It's true, but many above 12/13 minutes already indicate as suites based on the development. If you're talking only about the "side track," some should be removed.

Ok, we reached an agreement :D
I think Larks Tongues is a beautiful open/close album (it's one of my favorite records) just like Shine On You Crazy Diamond. Alpha Centaury, if you mean the one by TD, is not a prog suite but electronic/experimental. Awaken does not have the structure, The Snow Glose is a beautiful concept. Then there’s Ars Longa Vita Brevis and Valentine suite, which I got a few years ago but didn’t really grab me, etc. etc.

In conclusion, I add the Wizard's Garden and Valentine suite on your advice, even though I'm not particularly fond of them, but they do indeed belong to the history of Prog.

What can I say, I would really love to see Lady Fantasy by Camel, as well as The Great Nothing by Spock's Beard, why not? There is always a tendency to focus on the bands from the seventies.

The Great Nothing approved! I don't know Lady Fantasy. I'll take care of it.

Yes! It's the one in Mirage. I couldn't remember the title. But it's a minisuite.

Indeed, Lady Fantasy is a minisuite; however, I’m glad you appreciate The Great Nothing.

I am a regular listener of the SB. If you want, read my review of The Kindness of Strangers.

I will definitely read it; after V, The Kindness of Strangers is my favorite album.

  • Hi, very well done for including the legendary Queen, a band whose progressive roots are often overlooked. It's no coincidence that Dream Theater often plays covers of Queen. Nothing happens by chance.
