I imagine it's being set up, just a reminder for you who likes punk/hardcore, don't forget the Jesus Lizard! :)

I’ve never heard anything from cccp and csi, is that very bad?

  • I would say it's terrible! In general, you should listen to all the albums of the "saga" from Affinità-Divergenze to Tabula Rasa Elettrificata... obviously, there's a big change and a significant maturation along the way, from the duo Ferretti Zamboni to the collective including Canali Magnelli and especially the genius of Maroccolo (and the late Ringo De Palma, but only on one album). For me, they're all masterpieces, the essentials you need to listen to as soon as possible: Affinità-Divergenze, Epica... Linea Gotica and T.R.E.

Okay, thanks! I've never really explored the Italian scene much, but then again, time is ruthless.

The CCCP are really getting to me anyway! I don't understand why all my friends are so obsessed with Litfiba when these guys are way better for me!

Well, the Litfiba from the '80s definitely deserve a lot as well. In any case, the CCCP are certainly in a different league, no doubt about it. I'm glad you're enjoying them :)

Well, it must be that in the last year I was almost only into prog and kraut, but lately I've been rediscovering new wave, and I have to say that now and then a bit of "more direct" music is really a breath of fresh air ;) Plus, I'm discovering an infinite number of interesting scenes that definitely deserve more exploration.

Excuse me, a question: are the CCCP "true comrades" or is their image more of an intellectual-provocative one, let's say destabilizing? I haven't been able to fully understand this, reading around on the internet (I should mention that I've never listened to them).

For me, we are halfway between the two things... perhaps more "anarchists" or critical of the status quo than true "communists," but a certain sympathy is undoubtedly there; which is also a product of the socio-cultural context in which they've grown up.

certainly more the second one you mentioned. For me, Ferretti, at least the one from the early period, has been the greatest Italian provocateur (in terms of lyrics in music, that is).

Okay, thank you very much for the information. Because the quick invectives, from both sides, have never sat well with me. I will try to listen to them, even though I don't think they are my kind of thing.

I too was skeptical at first about listening to them precisely because preachers and fanatics get on my nerves, and the name and titles of the albums made me suspicious, but instead, after listening to them, I changed my mind.
