No. We are not there. Someone who has written 9 divine symphonies, string quartets of an astonishing modernity (even surpassing Stravinsky), 5 formidable piano concertos, a violin concerto that makes you cry, piano sonatas like the Appassionata, the Moonlight, the Waldstein, the Pathetique, violin and piano sonatas like the Spring and the Kreutzer, a monumental triple concerto, and stunning variations, cannot be compared to a musician who mostly wrote little pieces of three to four minutes and who composed only two orchestral scores in his entire life.
