Great ranking, Zappa either needs to be moved up or removed, Shawn Lane and the Brecker Brothers are missing, Weather Report in first place. Of course, all personal opinions!

Sorry but... what about Billy Cobham (spectrum)? Good job including the Ian Gillan Band (even though I prefer "Clean Air Turbulence" by them).

Michael Shrieve is an amazing drummer, but pannocchiaprosciutto absolutely has to be included, you’ve got Santana and the Mahavishnu Orchestra, put pannocchiaprosciutto! :D

Almost all the best are there, but I would have found a spot for Brand X, really a great group. If you don't know them, I recommend the first two albums + Livestock.

I join hjhhjij for Brand X, listen to the bass lines, genius.

Grandissimo Felo, Percy Jones is a monster on the bass. The rhythmic foundation of bass and drums (with a devastating Phil Collins, who deserves to be on the list of the best drummers of the '70s, or of all time, for these performances) is simply brilliant.

There are dozens of names missing, then Hancock and Corea are too low.

Then Miles too low, the albums to mention about Weather Report, the MO were The Inner Mounting Flame and I Sing the Body Electric.

Felo, however, it must be said that Birds of Fire is a masterpiece on par with, if not superior to, Inner Mounting Flame.
