Return to Forever is an American jazz fusion group founded by pianist Chick Corea. Active primarily in the 1970s, the band blended jazz, rock and Latin influences and featured players including Stanley Clarke, Bill Connors, Al di Meola, Lenny White, Joe Farrell, Flora Purim and Airto Moreira at various times.

Founded by Chick Corea, Return to Forever produced seven studio albums in the 1970s and are considered a major exponent of jazz-rock/fusion, with clear links to the electric period around Miles Davis and high-profile lineups that included Stanley Clarke and Al di Meola.

Critics praise Return to Forever's 1970s jazz-rock fusion output for technical mastery and compositional sophistication. Reviews single out Hymn of the Seventh Galaxy, Romantic Warrior, Where Have I Known You Before and the debut as landmark albums. Recurring notes: Latin influences, virtuosic playing (Corea, Clarke, Di Meola), and balanced ensemble interplay. Overall consensus: essential listening for jazz-fusion fans.

For:Fans of jazz fusion, 1970s jazz-rock listeners, musicians and students of instrumental virtuosity

"Hymn of The Seventh Galaxy" is, in my opinion, the best album along with "Romantic Warrior" from 1976.

Although not reaching the heights of the 1972 debut, "Romantic Warrior" remains a work of great creative depth and technical skill, finding its greatest strength in the perfect balance and harmony among the instrumentalists in bringing compositions to life without anyone overshadowing another or being too "restrained".

Despite the band’s rather short lifespan, in just five years they produced seven small masterpieces of jazz rock, of which "Where Have I Known You Before" is just one example.
