That's it... I'm not talking to you anymore :(

  • yesyes stay calm stefano!!!!!!!!! robert is one of the founders of the blues, but, aside from the matter of tastes and that there would be many, this is more of a rock blues ranking.

I didn't mean to suggest you should put it. Maybe someone reading it gets a shock because they don't see it, so I was showing solidarity (not sure if that's written correctly) with them.

  • yesyes but I also had a shock after seeing 6 identical comments like this...:D

It is indeed a rockblues ranking, except for BB King. However, I must admit that I wouldn’t know how to create a ranking; it’s too difficult, and it’s never definitive.

Hey Polka, I really wanted to ask you: how are things with Rory and Roy Buchanan?

Do you know what it means 0 out of 0? I've never listened to anything... what do you suggest?

Look, I know you're a fan of the genre like me, so I recommend you delve deeper whenever you can/want, especially into Rory. Besides the famous Irish Tour '74, I suggest Tattoo and Calling Card (which also has a review on deb), absolute masterpieces in my opinion. As for Buchanan, I recently listened to Live Stock and I was thinking of proposing it in a review soon... so I might redirect you there :D

That's perfectly fine, thanks for the advice! During this period, I'm reading a book about history but especially about the birth of the blues, truly wonderful, it's called La musica del diavolo-storia del blues, written by Giles Oakley, found in my public library. If you come across it, read it, it's worth it; I'm discovering names previously unknown to me like Mamie Smith and Ma Rainey. As for Rory and Roy, I only know them by reputation, but I've never delved deeper because they strike me (instinctively) as guitar virtuosos, the kind who try to fit as many notes as possible in a second, and, for personal taste, they don't really excite me... I'm throwing out a second suggestion: thanks to a review here on Debaser (already commented back then), I downloaded and then neglected Ice Pickin' by Albert Collins... well, it's a splendid album, highly recommended!

Thank you too. The book you mentioned I’ve heard of; maybe if I come across it I could add it. For now, I have the volume from the Atlanti Musicali Giunti series "Rock Blues," which is very useful for getting to know incredibly important albums and artists, perhaps some of whom are unknown; however, it overlooks more historical artists, focusing mainly on those from the revival period and rock blues from the 60s onwards. As for Roy and Rory, I can assure you they are not that type, or at least from what I've heard. I know Collins' album and I confirm it’s beautiful; I agree with you.
