Oh my God!!!!!!!! This CD is a true masterpiece that will go down in history as one of the best progressive CDs.
It starts with PULL ME UNDER, an excellent song that, after an intense arpeggio, unleashes all the technique and skill of the D.T. Then there is ANOTHER DAY, a melodious and tear-jerking song that engages the listener and prepares them for what is yet to come. The third song is TAKE THE TIME, perfect in every aspect, after a beginning where Portnoy excels and the Dream Theater freely showcase their technical abilities. Here come the famous harmonizations that characterize this work. SURROUNDED starts slowly before turning into an excellent song, preceding the true masterpiece of this album, the essence of perfection: METROPOLIS. In this song, we find everything. Fantastic instrumental pieces, where everyone is involved, great melodic phases, and magnificent lyrics. Trust me, listen to it...
The sixth song is UNDER A GLASS MOON. Perhaps the only imperfect one, but equally beautiful and with a solo by Petrucci that will give you chills. Then follows WAIT FOR SLEEP, a sweet intro to the majestic and extraordinary LEARNING TO LIVE (entirely written by Myung). This album is perfect from every point of view, and there's nothing to say about the D.T. They are extraterrestrials capable of combining technique and melody without any problem... forget about those who tell you they're only technique and no substance!
How did they manage to release such a beautiful collection of songs?!?
With this CD, the American band has confirmed its domination in the world of progressive metal!!
"You have to listen to this music not with your ears but with your heart."
"In my opinion, they are the best existing band and nothing will change my mind."
"Images And Words is an album from which every musician could learn something."
"In this, as in no other Dream Theater record, chilling atmospheres and unmistakably original sounds are created."
Pull Me Under... simply gives you goosebumps.
Take the Time... a sort of programmatic manifesto of what Theater's music is.
"Itâs the album that cements Dream Theater as one of the fathers of prog metal, placing them alongside sacred monsters like Rush and Neal Morse."
"'Surrounded' is a total exaltation of the vocal capabilities of the then twenty-nine-year-old singer. Soft tones and sung whispers, the pace rises and the vocalistâs acrobatics increase."
