The mad cow disease is a nasty business, just think of how many butchers have found themselves in trouble!
But there is a butcher who doesn’t care about mass psychosis—a madman, you might say. Indeed! The mad butcher lives in Germany and since 1987 with the release of 'mad butcher' has been the official mascot. What else could our guys do but release a new album with his long workdays marked by the buzzing of the chainsaw??? Yes indeed, ladies and gentlemen, a year after "All Hell Breaks Loose," the well-loved trio is back in action, a sign that the reunion was taken seriously.
Schiemer and company went knocking on the door of Peter Tagtgren's The Abyss Studio, who managed to improve on last year’s result. The recording is one of the strengths of The Antichrist, which can boast horrific guitar and drum sounds that don’t distort the band's classic sound. Should we expect a new assault on 'white bread?' Indeed, yes; in fact, the album is even better appreciated than its predecessor, where the mid-tempos left a bit of a bad taste. While on The Antichrist every tiny piece is placed on the altar of that last decade's celebration. Ten nasty songs plus the usual arpeggio that smells very much like Metallica with some breaks, few solos, and shrill voices that spit out blasphemous choruses marked by the throbbing rhythm of the guitar, make The Antichrist with its single purpose to sow death and destruction for forty minutes, pursued with commitment, thus deserving both the attention and money of fans and the respect of everyone else. Destruction has never reached some remarkable artistic vein and continues down the same path even now; in any case, I bow before a group of veterans capable of releasing an album that doesn't overshadow their past work, making it hard to point out the best track. To make you understand true pure thrash metal, there are the 11 tracks of The Antichrist—songs in which rage and violence flow in industrial quantities, destroying everything in their path. The energy that the German trio managed to unleash in their early days on albums like Infernal Overkill and Eternal Devastation has remained completely intact. "Thrash Till Death," "Bullet from Hell," and "Let Your Mind Rot" are authentic masterpieces. This album marks the return of the true Destruction of true destruction!!! In conclusion, what can I say; I believe the track analysis speaks for itself. Such a thrash album hasn’t been heard in years, and let me reiterate that the moniker Destruction is synonymous with pure violent thrash and perfect for headbanging. Recommended.
The riffs scream for massacre, a record worthy of its name!
The uninteresting solos and the very 'black/death' voice... sour what could be a great album.
"This is Pure Fucking Thrash Metal, without hardcore influences like in Slayer’s new albums, without style changes like in Kreator’s new albums."
"The first song, 'Dictators Of Cruelty,' is simple and pure Thrash shot to the max."
