THE REVIEW

Today is Tuesday, the ideal day for Thrashegging. Today I present to you an immense masterpiece of the genre, one of the best Thrash CDs of recent years. "The Antichrist" by those German bastards Destruction.

The album starts with "Days Of Confusion", a decidedly unoriginal intro consisting only of an arpeggio. But don't worry, the destruction begins immediately. In fact, the first song, "Dictators Of Cruelty", is simple and pure Thrash shot to the max. The entire song is composed of a destructive rhythm section, with violent, fast riffs of immense power. Then that genius Schmier (singer and bassist) starts singing with his hoarse, screechy, wicked voice, to have it he must surely smoke 10 packs of cigarettes a day, plus drink 30 liters of alcohol, and it's done. The solo is also nice, fast and powerful. The second song is titled "Thrash Till Death", and it's a sort of homage the band pays to their own musical genre. The song starts with a beautiful solo and is shot to the max for all of its 4 minutes. The third song is one of Destruction's absolute masterpieces, "Nailed To The Cross". The riffs are brilliant, Schmier gives his best to be even more destructive than before. The song that follows is titled "Bullets From Hell", where the guitarist favors low riffs and Schmier also sings with a deep and dark voice. The work of the drummer is also tremendous, who plays extremely complicated rhythms at an impressive speed.

The fifth song is titled "Strangulated Pride", it is one of the fastest and has a fantastic solo. The sixth song is titled "Meet Your Destiny" and is slower and more reflective than the previous ones. The solos of the guitar and the rhythms of the drums are beautiful as always. The seventh song, "Creations Of The Underworld", begins with the guitar and bass alternating and then joining together to form a powerful song. In this song, the drummer lets loose completely. The eighth song is titled "Godfather Of Sandler", where a computer-modified voice can also be heard speaking, still a beautiful Thrash piece. The songs that follow and should close the album are titled "Let Your Mind Rot" and "The Heretic", they are very similar and both start with a drum break. In theory, the album would end here, but the special version contains a hidden track: "Curse The Gods", one of the most beautiful songs of the album and Destruction's discography.

Guys, this is Pure Fucking Thrash Metal, without hardcore influences like in Slayer's new albums, without style changes like in Kreator's new albums. Pure Thrash without compromise and half measures, dedicated to the true fans of the genre.

Destruction

Destruction are a German thrash metal band from Lörrach, commonly cited (alongside Sodom and Kreator) as part of the core German/Teutonic thrash triad. The band is strongly associated with bassist/vocalist Marcel "Schmier" Schirmer and guitarist Mike Sifringer, and is known for aggressive, direct thrash and a notably abrasive vocal style.

The riffs scream for massacre, a record worthy of its name!

The uninteresting solos and the very 'black/death' voice... sour what could be a great album.

This album marks the return of the true Destruction of true destruction!!!

Such a thrash album hasn’t been heard in years, and let me reiterate that the moniker Destruction is synonymous with pure violent thrash and perfect for headbanging.
