THE REVIEW

The album cover and title are suggestive, and you'll probably understand what you'll find inside the record, both musically and contextually.

Destruction, one of the bands in the German thrash metal triad formed at the end of the eighties, which also includes the warlike Sodom and the violent Kreator, produced a truly devastating album in 2001!
The rhythmic base present in the album is truly formidable, the riffs scream for massacre, a record worthy of its name! The band masterfully interprets the thrash-metal line, which echoes like never before in all the tracks. The Germans, reflecting also their natural "imposing" demeanor, create a mix between destructive rhythms and icy riffs, producing a truly dark sound.

The line-up, revamped from '84 to today, presents us with a "trident." The singer's voice, Schmier, has a lot of black/death metal elements, more dedicated to "dark" sounds than speed-thrash ones. At times it seems to recall the rough and "incomprehensible" voice of the nanorettolo (fans will forgive me, but I do not know the name) from Cradle of Filth.
The solos performed by the sole guitarist, Mike Sifringer, are well-constructed, but truthfully not very powerful and quite predictable. Very intense and "evil," however, is the arpeggio presented in the sinister intro.
On bass, we still find Schmier, who along with the drummer (I'd rather call him a "bricklayer" :-), Sven Vormann, construct interesting bass lines and fast, direct tempos!

For many, this is Destruction's best album; I, unfortunately, have had the pleasure of listening only to this one exclusively and am not able to judge the rest of the discography. I conclude by saying that the album should be evaluated subjectively (meaning listen to it before buying copying it). In fact, the uninteresting solos and the very "black/death" voice, which doesn't really fit with the "pounding" sound, sour what could be a great album.
Personal opinion... as always, after all...

Summary by Bot

Destruction's 2001 album 'The Antichrist' delivers a dark and powerful thrash metal experience with intense rhythms and icy riffs. The vocals incorporate black/death metal tones, which some may find mismatched with the thrash sound. While the solos are well-crafted, they lack impact. Overall, the album is considered strong but may appeal subjectively based on taste.

Destruction

Destruction are a German thrash metal band from Lörrach, commonly cited (alongside Sodom and Kreator) as part of the core German/Teutonic thrash triad. The band is strongly associated with bassist/vocalist Marcel "Schmier" Schirmer and guitarist Mike Sifringer, and is known for aggressive, direct thrash and a notably abrasive vocal style.

"This is Pure Fucking Thrash Metal, without hardcore influences like in Slayer’s new albums, without style changes like in Kreator’s new albums."

"The first song, 'Dictators Of Cruelty,' is simple and pure Thrash shot to the max."

This album marks the return of the true Destruction of true destruction!!!

Such a thrash album hasn’t been heard in years, and let me reiterate that the moniker Destruction is synonymous with pure violent thrash and perfect for headbanging.
