The best album by the Germans. Speed and adrenaline blend with folk elements and imposing choruses. A fresh, dynamic, and technical example of how to create power-speed metal without sounding flat and predictable. more
Dark, epic, fierce, grim. The best work with Barlow on vocals. The title track and the final suite "Dante's Inferno" are among the finest things you can hear in the realm of heavy metal. more
After 4 years, navigating record labels and compromises, their '90s begin in total creative freedom, with a sound that is contemporary, excellent songwriting, and a Peter Nicholls who has returned and is in great shape. The Milan date of the related tour was a Prog Happening in grand style. more
Evenly divided into an acoustic and an electric side. more
I’ve listened to it so much these weeks that it made me feel nauseous; however, in the "acoustic guitar-voice" folk albums, this is truly a sparkling gem. Here, Mitchell records in the studio other tracks already written and performed live between '66 and '67, songs that are among the best of her early period. The opening trio ("Chelsea Morning" and "I Don't Know Where I Stand" especially) and the final diptych bring it to a 5, but how can one forget "Roses Blue" and the chorus of "The Gallery"? more
I've never understood why "Pentecost lll" is labeled as an EP, exceeding forty minutes in length across its five tracks. In my opinion, it is their first masterpiece, the last musical episode featuring Darren White on vocals; a dark, decadent Gothic Doom Metal, with songs among my favorites from their excellent discography like the opener "Kingdom" or the equally substantial in duration "We, The Gods," not to mention "Memento Mori"...From Here To ETERNITY... more
Born in the late eighties in Boston, at that time one of the capitals of Music (I randomly mention Pixies, Dinosaur Jr., etc.). Sharp and loud Indie-College Rock, yet with clear folk references evident in their discography; intimately deafening...LET ME COME OVER... more

Lopsided rhythms and spastic marches in circular patterns with few progressions. The proponents of the French river. Minimal prog? more

Immense cover. Revisited after an endless time, a work of rare beauty, ahead of its time, recorded by God and aged well. To this day, I consider it the best Floyd since Saucerful. more
In my opinion, the best album by Frank Zappa perfectly sits between the dada/psychedelic masterpieces and the more rock/fusion ones. King Kong is eternal. more
Uplifting technical rate more
I love the entire discography of Anathema; "The Silent Enigma" remains one of my favorite albums, not just referring to the English band. We're in 1995: Darren White has left the band; Vincent Cavanagh takes his place as the vocalist, giving the tracks a breathtaking depth. The superb Gothic element bursts into an album that should be listened to from the first to the last note, in the dark; it’s the endless "A Dying Wish," twilight and visionary in its progression, that conquers me...ALONE... more
