Blondie -Parallel Lines
The many facets of an album that could not possibly be a flop: Punk attitude, futuristic and decadent New Wave, remarkable Power-Pop, Sixties memories, and a dazzling entry into the dancefloor. No one had managed to mix the cards so well musically. The image did the rest. more
M.I.A. -Cornonstípicum
Inspired, magical, beautiful. Together with Bubu by Anabelas and Depois do Fim by Bacamarte, the highest expression of 70s South American prog. more
Soundgarden -Superunknown
In a hypothetical top 5 of Seattle, this masterpiece should always be there. more
Tuxedomoon -Half Mute
Mia, I mean, I write whatever I want, right? It’s not a definition, it’s a beautiful memory. One that probably won’t be liked because what’s the point of liking someone else's memories? But I’m writing it for myself, so that’s fine. I sang Tuxedomoon during my first trip to India. I could never find batteries for my walkman, but I missed them so much that I sang their songs on the streets, everywhere. Can you imagine what might come out of that? A crazy-looking German girl making improbable sounds. But they filled my heart and closed the distance to the European new wave climate. Music was the only thing I missed during those months, along with toilet paper. Tuxedomoon, travel companions and memorable "trips." more
Tenacious D
They challenged Satan to a rock-off. They deserve infinite respect. And then Jack Black is a much better actor than one might think, but I prefer him when he's being goofy. more
Chuck Norris
Hurricane Katrina isn't a weather phenomenon... it's Chuck Norris farting. more
Litfiba
The epochal "Power Trilogy," the "Tetralogy of Elements" has its ups and downs. These alone are enough for a 5; honestly, I care very little about the rest. more
R.E.M. -Reckoning
If only all "transition" albums were like this... 'Time After Time' is a thing worthy of the best Paisley - not that there is a "worse" Paisley, to be honest... more

Siouxsie & the Banshees -The Scream
'We're not going to explain ourselves any more, we're just going to do what we want and if no one understands that's their problem'..(Siouxsie) more
Muddy Waters
Son Muddy: "Why don't you sound like that, Dad? (listening to a Chuck Berry track on the radio)"
Muddy: "It's just a blues played faster."
Son Muddy: "It's Rock N Roll!"
(from the movie Cadillac Records) more
Tom Waits
Underground, if by any chance there was too much light on the surface. more
King Crimson
The rock intelligentsia! more
The Cure
You like them... they’re a pop band... they’re amazing.... I don’t know? In the meantime, they settle in your head with tunes you don't remember, but can't help but listen to. more
Fabrizio De André
...you can end any discussion by saying that he was the greatest Italian singer-songwriter. No one can counter this statement! Not even me. more
Oasis
Wait, wait... someone called them the new Beatles? Yes, and I will win the Pulitzer with this phrase! more
R.E.M.
I'm afraid they are astonishing, they just get stuck in your head! more
Led Zeppelin
Don’t you feel that with them and just a few others (DP, BS....) all hard rock, and what comes from it, is a bad and ultimately pointless imitation? more
U2
If they were as good as they are annoying, they would be geniuses; instead, they're just a decent band! more
