An explosive debut, two albums that can be summed up as "half sensational, half pointless," and then nothing. As has been said, 90% of those who start listening to rock/hard rock end up listening to them. From here, either you are mature enough to understand that there is objectively better music out there, or you are ignorant and label them as the best hard rock band. An, to those who claimed they were the only badass, non-permed band, albums like Back in Black and Wheels of Steel were released in the '80s, just to name a couple. more

great (from 5) the first albums pure fury grind core, then they got infected by the metal shit, but live they still kick ass more
Useless band, listen to Through the Fire and Flames and you’ve heard everything they have to offer. They’re technically skilled in the studio but in live performances, they don’t deliver even 10% of what they’ve recorded. They "deserve" the lowest score because they are also harmful, enchanting young and naive metal fans with the deceptive philosophy of fast = good. Thumbs down. more
The most innovative? The most historic? Not even with a telescope! The Sabbath were setting the standards for Metal while Hetfield and his gang were still going through puberty. Bringing Metal to catchy levels? Because, before that, it was unlistenable? British Steel, just to name one, has an astonishing immediacy. For the rest I’ve already said, the band has its merits, but overall it’s pretty overrated. And the Megadeth piss all over them, no doubt about it. more
