One of the few things that comes on the radio that you can actually listen to. Of course, art is somewhere else, but to be mainstream/pop, I’d say we’re at more than decent levels, pretty enjoyable :) more

I&W and Awake are two stunning albums. Then, unfortunately, they got dragged down by the immense egos of Portnoy and Petrucci, who were competing over whose was bigger! more
As a technique, nothing transcendental; dozens of other bands can double them without any problems. Taking away the technique, what remains are the songs and the attitude: the ballads are often ridiculous, while the more upbeat ones are more enjoyable. The attitude is cloying. I followed them for years, but now they’re a bit pathetic, all things considered. more
excellent candidates for the worst group in history, too bad we can't give less than 1. more
Sanctified: the debut is commendable, they lost their way from Train Of Thought onwards. Every musician is considered by fans to be the best in their genre, which is absolutely wrong. I give 4 for the masterpieces crafted up to 2002, but Octavarium and Systematic Chaos are perhaps the lowest point ever reached by a prog metal band. more
wonderful interpreter, she managed to sing "Child In Time" without being outshone by Ian Gillan, and that says a lot; she is also an excellent songwriter and musician. If Ritchie Blackmore has managed to reinvent his career and not become an old relic, it is largely thanks to her. more
