I always hear other artists being criticized, the first one that comes to mind is Bowie, for using clever tricks to promote themselves and attract the audience's attention. If Genesis hadn't done their mask performances, nobody would have cared about them, but in this case, no one says anything because prog is prog. I don't know, personally, I acknowledge they have good technique, but they bore me to death.
