One of the best gifts I've ever received is the first press vinyl (unique? who knows) of this piece of ignorance. (*Thanks, Sara*). My War, I Can't Decide, Nothing Left Inside... an immense record. more
Nothing transcendental... But I only ask my peers or those of my generation for one favor: please do not commemorate him or mourn him on Facebook or elsewhere, since the only time you cared about him was when he did that cheesy thing with Gabry Ponte. more
Great. more
One of the best Italian singers of all time. more
Doll with drool on her lips. The music? What music? more
Never heard any of his pieces and I don't think I've missed out on anything (3 is a non-vote). more
A record about Surf, the Heat of Summer, and Love.
How to make the Beach Boys coexist with MBV through incredibly sensual indie electronics.
An excellent appetizer that leaves a curiosity to discover an artist who I believe is remarkably talented. more
Good cover album. Some tracks are definitely better sung by her (the pieces from Orizzonti perduti and Mondi lontanissimi), others still do nothing for me (the three from La Voce del padrone), and all the others are interpreted beautifully (especially Prospective and Luna indiana, a piece with incredible charm here with unpublished lyrics well recited by Carletta). A great way to say goodbye to Battiato and, starting from Park Hotel, begin the mature phase of her career. more
A WHILE AGO I WROTE "if that heart attack had taken him away, we would be better off and we wouldn't see him on TV advertising DANACOL!" now instead.... "we will be much better ... starting today." more
Cover whose sight can make your tongue itch, a worthy container of a rich half-hour of excellent Rock Blues. 'Woman' is a truly great track. more
I was introduced to metal. more
Aside from those 3 great little songs ("Cuore matto" by Totò Savio, "Riderà" captured in '66 from the French "Fais La Rire" by Hervé Vilard, and "La spada nel cuore" by Mogol-Battisti) which he alone interpreted, he certainly won't be missed artistically. All in all, he was a harmless good soul. more
I found him inexplicably likable. Of course, I never felt anything. more
3.5, rounded down though. It also has nice songs, but the turn (like in the previous one) entirely focused on electronics and ultra-synthetic sounds I really like very little, I just can't stand the arrangements and they really penalize the album, what a shame. Moreover, I prefer the versions of Alice for Treni di Tozeur and Chanson egocentrique, and Il re del mondo is pulverized by its excellent original version. Decent, anyway. more
Interesting and substantial collection of artifacts more
4.5... a record I would have loved to play on, and brag about having done it. Oh. more
Ludovico Van more
An album that is a bitter reflection on the tragedy of September 11, a general overview of America in the early 2000s. Sung and played by God, with very profound lyrics. It would deserve a 5, but its previous masterpieces might get offended. 4.5. more
The first two albums are lovely and the third one is nice, but the latest one that came out is a fantastic piece of crap. more
