Syd Barrett
Good as you think, but he was a piece of shit. more
The Band -The Band
According to many (myself included), the most beautiful album by the Canadian-American group, year of our Lord 1969, "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down" is the emblematic track of this second album... more
Kansas -Masque
Little masterpiece from 1976 by the musicians of Topeka, hard rock, prog, beautiful melodies, and Robbie Steinhardt's violin that hypnotizes you. Must listen to "Icarus," Walsh's voice soars higher than the sun... more
Porcupine Tree -Nil Recurring
The instrumental and distorted title track, the captivating shifts in atmosphere of "Normal," the thrilling and relentless crescendo of "What Happens Now"... A beautiful EP that serves as an extraordinary appendage to "Fear Of A Blank Planet." more

True artists don't need it; it's only useful for mediocre artists like Lennon, Barrett, etc. more
The Smiths
Grandissimi, the greatest pop of the eighties, Morrissey-Marr perfect couple and Rourke and Joyce were two musicians with guts. more
Andy Rourke
One of the best bassists of the eighties, some of his performances are extraordinary. more
The Pretty Things -The Pretty Things
Great debut from 1965 for the Pretty Things. An amazing record of visceral, pure garage/rock'n roll. "Roadrunner" stands out. A very, very beautiful album. more

Neutral Milk Hotel -In The Aeroplane Over The Sea
A classic example of an album that everyone seems to love regardless, but to me, it doesn't seem all that amazing. A pleasant little record of "Indie Pop" played with a Folk band setup. The reputation this album has would be better suited for those two masterpieces by Olivia Tremor Control, while still staying within the Elephant 6 realm. more
Porcupine Tree -Fear Of A Blank Planet
As in the masterpiece "In Absentia," here (and in the subsequent wonderful EP "Nil Recurring," which is closely tied to this) psychedelic/progressive dreamlike, wistful atmospheres perfectly blend with violent and hyper-distorted outbursts: the destabilizing sound that made me fall in love with the band. more
