In over thirty years of career, just one misstep with the 2004 album "Around the Sun"; otherwise, exemplary even in their choice to take a pause... A band "Out of Time." more
It was the Heat of the Moment more
They came from Boston and were a musical shooting star with this album released and little else; the "crazy" cousins of the already crazy Primus. They combined country, funk, hard rock, and metal into an electrifying and disorienting blend of sounds… with a voice that sometimes resembled Prince's timbre… like a local fair with an attached rodeo. more
I prefer "The good and the bad" but this is also a great album. "Affacciati affacciati" is an amazing song, there's time for the tribute to Buckley (right in that cursed 1975) in "Che ora è". Beautiful. more

Quick question for the more experienced, is there a similar record? I mean one that's made entirely of samples? more

A MAN, A LEGEND, NEVER FAILS TO ENTHRALL... On July 16, 2013, he was arrested with his wife in Salon-la-Tour, France, where they had moved, on charges of preparing a massacre. He had purchased 4 assault rifles. The woman, a French national with a legal firearms license, was part of the local shooting club, but the police feared that the weapons had been acquired for another reason. After various investigations, the French police cleared Vikernes of the charges... more
The exceptional thing is the use of metallophones. Martin Gore had come into contact with Bargeld and the Berliners, and with the Synclavier they had begun to sample anything. A prelude to the Masterpiece that would come shortly after, but in the meantime the rhythms become more intricate (that progressive acceleration in "More Than A Party" is typical of Slavic music). more
Practically perfect Pop Disco. It's the kind of Pop that doesn't settle for the easiest melody but tunes into the frequencies of funk and reggae, feeding on exotic and ethereal atmospheres. You arrive at the final title track and reach sensory ecstasy. Because it's a record for the senses, not for the mind. more

The greatest "adult" cartoon of all time. Characterization, structure, and depth of the stories are simply genius. more
Genius. Always inspired and full of class. The first four albums of the Penguin Cafe Orchestra are all masterpieces. Avant-garde music accessible to everyone. Balancing between new-age, classical, world music, avant-garde, and pop; something akin to Zappa's orchestral works or Reich's output, but with a lightness that they could only dream of and without the snobbery typical of intellectuals. In conclusion: do you like the Penguin Cafe Orchestra? You are my friend. more
He is truly a handsome man. more
Great, but it doesn't deserve the title "Greatest artist of all time." more
Schizoid man of the 21st century, and they were right. First album a milestone, just for that they already deserve 5 stars! more
If it were possible to give 0 stars... more
A singer who can’t sing… perhaps he should have just been a poet… but that wouldn’t have attracted the girls. more
