I had already mentioned in the DeFinizioni "too few reviews for such a great band" often underrated and seen by "some" as a second choice compared to bands like Slayer, Metallica, and Megadeth... docta ignoràntia? ... no! this time I am no longer willing to excuse those who have never given them a chance over the years.
This makes me think that the site is becoming commercialized, an inevitable event I believe, as it is dominated by kids quick to express opinions on music that is too computerized and accessible, who do not recognize the origins of Metal and Hard Rock, and all those pioneering bands of a genre that will remain among the most technically and qualitatively refined.
The evidence is clear when listening to these 4+1 boys of Filipino origin from the Bay area, endowed with technical and compositional abilities that never bore the listener.
This project is nothing short of devastating, fast and sharp, driven by impactful riffs devoid of banality and tempo changes in the compositions that make everything extremely varied and solid...
Undoubtedly, this new project might not be "aligned" with the old guard, used to identifying Death Angel in a purely '80s thrash scenario as was "Ultra-Violence", however, this album manages to be extremely incisive and engaging, despite opting for a more groove sound than thrash.
Right from the opening track with "Lord of Hate", the band's declarations of intent are evident, presenting themselves with devastating technical qualities that will subject you to an inevitable adrenaline hyper-production.
The rage and speed unleashed in "Sonic Beatdown" and the technical depth revealed in the splendid yet furious "Carnival Justice", showcase a quintet in full "command" .....while the album does not lack, in some tracks, slight drops in tone a bit too "chitchy", like "The Noose", "When World Collide and Soulless", also evident, when you are fully absorbed by tracks like "Dethroned", "Buried Alive", "Steal the Crown" and "God Vs. God", cheeky, groovy and "riff-filled" enough to make you understand that you are facing a group that has known over the years to be one of the top bands that have best represented this genre.
All this concluded by an excellent "close track" like "Resurrection Machine"........with this I conclude hoping to have given honor to one of the greatest thrash metal bands that since the '80s has always known how to stand out from the crowded, monotonous, and predictable masses.
......Best Regards
