THE REVIEW

What do we expect from a dance group? To enter the History of Music? I would rather say to make people dance, to make heads sway to the beat.

This is what Daft Punk manages to do with this "Discovery" (or... "Disco very"?), with songs influenced by various genres (dance, funk, house, even rock), with instrumental and vocal tracks, with and without the vocoder; all with one common thread:

"Music's got me feeling so free
We're gonna celebrate
Celebrate and dance so free
One more time"

Daft Punk: The Movie?

Two years after the album's release, these two crazy French DJs have completed an ambitious project: already lovers of Japanese manga and admirers of the Japanese artist Leiji Matsumoto (whom young fans will remember as the author of "Captain Harlock" and "Galaxy Express 999"), they decided to ask for his collaboration to create an animated musical film featuring their music as the soundtrack.
Hence the beautiful videos that accompanied the album's singles! They were clips from this film, which has now, after two and a half years of work for fifty illustrators and animators, been completed.
The title? "Interstella 5555: The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem."
The plot is deliberately simple, trivial, as the film is seen as a "childhood operation," so that, as they said in an interview, "everyone can accept themselves for the child they once were."
Ambitious, curious, and intriguing.

Perhaps, if you haven't already "crucified" me for talking more about the film than the album, I'll add some more anecdotes in the comments: in the meantime, get the CD and start dancing!

The sung songs are useless; 'One More Time' is a Saturday night song, instead sung by Romanthony (who is he???), here also co-producer (with a terrible voice à la Eiffel 65!) who even manages to ruin 'Too Long' at the end.

Apart from self-references and quotes from Kraftwerk and 80’s electronics, the album is bad, we have listened to it multiple times waiting for it to grab us, but it lacks character.
