THE REVIEW

COLDPLAY: cold game (or match).
Is life a cold game? Is it a game without emotions? The cold is the element most felt when listening to this CD: the emotion, the chills that make your skin crawl.
Indeed, when you have your CD player on your ears, you're in the dark in your small room, you think that the atmosphere is right to bring out that album you haven't heard in a long time and... chills, due to songs tied to memories (good or bad).

“We live in a beautiful world” is said in “Don’t Panic” and we immediately think it is without doubt a sarcastic phrase, a joke, said in cold blood (is this then the cold game?); chills rise with that chord played on the 10th fret, then at the 12th, at the 13th to then cradle you in a jumping of chords that scream softly but make themselves heard, followed by the silent voice of Chris Martin. “Shiver”, “thrill” (not from the cold), a song that puts a smile on your face and at the same time saddens you inside; if one could say, it is a happy melancholy: usual chord jumps and honeyed lyrics “from the moment I wake up, to when I will go to sleep, I will stand by you... don’t you get a shiver?”. The chills are also present in “Spies” and not so much for the emotion (although there is that too) but for the fear, for the anguish, both in the melody, which kidnaps you, abandons you in a nightmare and injects a liter of fear, and in the lyrics “if we don’t hide here they find us, if we don’t hide now they will come for us while we sleep”.
And you cannot remain indifferent in front of the sweetness, the “yellow” joy of “Yellow,” a song to take, keep hidden to discover it in the moonlight while making a love declaration. You also tremble listening to how a piano can give life to that spark that runs through you, that traps you in a web of emotions, that guides a voice saying ”I never meant to cause you trouble”.

But why are these “cold games” so sad? But at 22 years old can’t they do like the others who destroy guitars, get drunk, call for the demolition of the stage? This is what you think when you arrive at the penultimate stop of the “melancholy tour” “We Never Change” which prepares you to be drenched in the last shower of emotion. Finally, there is also joy in this “parachute,” there is optimism amidst the cold: “…let's hope nothing is lost...” is repeated many times in the stadium-chorus finale of the last track.
Now put the parachute aside and, if you want it to give you chills again, open it again in some time; for now, devote yourself to something warm as there is enough cold around.

Ten poems (+ hidden track) each more beautiful than the last that present us with a new benchmark group on the world music scene.

I recommend listening to the CD before going to sleep; it resonates best during those moments.

Despite everything, it is a beautiful album.

Coldplay adopt the compositional formula of early Radiohead... but produce an album that is enjoyable and very listenable.

"Yellow," a beautiful song ... a showpiece that at every concert manages to thrill all fans.

Despite showing some influence from Radiohead, this CD is certainly one of the best albums that England has produced since the time of (What's the Story) Morning Glory by Oasis.

'Yellow' is definitely the best track on the album and was rightly chosen as the second single.

'Everything's Not Lost' is simply a gem to treasure: a worthy conclusion to this album.

Coldplay will release other albums and other videos, the latter thankfully less obscene, with time they will become something else.

It’s beautiful, an intimate and calm jewel, like only the nineties could give us.
