THE REVIEW

"Orzinuovi," the follow-up to "Greatest Tits," was released in 1994, one year after their debut. The Cats' second album immediately stands out as different: the total length is almost halved, and the sound becomes less varied, favoring a more rock-like approach, yet no less intriguing for it. Sure, the funky and reggae nuances of Greatest Tits are almost entirely gone, but songs like the opening duo Orecia de hina/Orzinuovi prove that the spirit of the Cats remains the same, steadfast and Brescia-born.

Rock reigns supreme, just consider Rocchenrol, La cariöla, Bumba bumba, Siamo fuori; it even seems there is a certain sophistication in the riffs: the Cats are as irreverent as ever, but musically more mature.

The weak point of the album is the presence of numerous short tracks with a goofy flavor that, while they may make you smile at first listen, eventually become tedious and certainly don't contribute to making "Orzinuovi" memorable. If nothing else, it's precisely on this album that the saga of the Aggettivi begins, which will continue in the two (excellent) following titles, with notable results.

All in all, an honest album, hindered by a rather frivolous modus operandi. Fortunately, the best was yet to come!

Summary by Bot

Orzinuovi, Charlie & The Cats' 1994 sophomore album, marks a shift towards a rock-centric sound with mature riffs. While funk and reggae elements fade, the band’s irreverence remains. The album’s numerous short, goofy tracks may detract from its memorability. Despite its flaws, it lays the groundwork for later successes and continues the Aggettivi saga.
