The Profile

Brescian dialect rock trio formed in 1993 by Charlie Cinelli with English bassist Alan Farrington and drummer Cesare Valbusa. Eclectic, humorous, and musically sharp, they spanned rock, funk, reggae, rockabilly-blues, jazz, and swing across albums from 1993 to 1996, then returned with The Original! in 2005.

Formed in Brescia (1993) by Giancarlo “Charlie” Cinelli with Alan Farrington (English bassist) and Cesare Valbusa (drums). Albums: Greatest Tits (1993), Orzinuovi (1994), Vakaputanga (1995), Baciami l'orso (1996), The Original! (2005). Lyrics often in Brescian dialect; ‘Aggettivi’ saga starts on Orzinuovi and continues with Aggettivi 2 and Aggettivi 3.

Reviews paint Charlie & The Cats as a Brescian dialect rock trio blending rock, funk, reggae, swing, and blues with irreverent humor. Greatest Tits (1993) is hailed as their landmark debut. Orzinuovi (1994) tightens into rock but is uneven. Vakaputanga (1995) is a strong return, rivaling the debut. Baciami l'orso (1996) closes the dialect project on a weak note. The Original! (2005) is a playful comeback in swing/rockabilly-blues mode.
