Cannonball Adderley

Somethin' Else Grasshopper

The alternation of this sound with the now legendary sharpness of Miles Davis’s trumpet constitutes one of the most fascinating aspects of this record.

Somethin’ Else is a jewel of musical humor, as well as the usual showcase of skill.

Listen to Somethin' Else and experience one of jazz's most elegant collaborations!

Cannonball Adderley

Julian “Cannonball” Adderley (1928–1975) was an American alto saxophonist central to hard bop and soul jazz. He rose to prominence in the mid‑1950s, joined Miles Davis (including Kind of Blue), and led celebrated groups with his brother Nat. Known for a warm, full alto tone and engaging onstage commentary, he scored a crossover hit with Mercy, Mercy, Mercy!.
