THE REVIEW

Burst, with each of their albums, have shown they are never content to settle for what they've become, which could be viewed from two perspectives; on one hand, a desire not to repeat themselves in any way; on the other, an inability to adapt to their own identity.

Honestly, I'm not sure which of the two options might be considered more truthful, but it is certain that beyond a natural artistic evolution, there is also an underlying restlessness accompanying a clear intention to engage listeners. This has led them to initiate a process of mutation that has modified and altered acquired certainties, shifting the compositional balance from the catastrophic violence of early works to the structured complexity of the latest releases, with "Origo" seeking to mediate, successfully, between various sound forms of post origin (a prefix to be applied to metal and hardcore with a common denominator of a decadent mood).

The challenge the Swedish group presents us with "Lazarus Bird" is even more intricate than that set by its predecessor, while clearly taking inspiration from it, emphasizing the epic tones as well as the avant-garde elements, but placing them in a context where the atmospheric passages are akin to progressive rock and certain psychedelic evolutions of the '70s. This enriches the sound in a decisive manner. An exquisite conjunction of emotions that become notes, of exceeded expectations, of brutal intensity and solid melodic fragility, of details that are essential supporting structures.

Certainly, we are faced with a band that has ideas and knows how to apply them when their creation process is set in motion; a process experienced as an exploratory journey in the wonderful universe called music, which Burst have now demonstrated they know perfectly and within which they navigate with exemplary mastery, always managing to surprise us.
