Burst are a Swedish post-metal/progressive band formed in 1993, noted for the albums Prey On Life (Relapse, 2003), Origo (2005) and Lazarus Bird (2008).

The band is Swedish and has been described in reviews as blending metal, hardcore and progressive/post-metal elements. Reviewers and site text identify Linus Jägerskog and Robert Reinholdz by name and note former Nasum member Jesper Liveröd as part of the group; the band signed to Relapse Records around 2003.

DeBaser reviews view Burst as a restless Swedish group evolving from hardcore/death influences toward progressive and post-metal textures. Reviewers praise compositional ambition and atmosphere while noting occasional unevenness. Lazarus Bird receives the highest acclaim; Origo and Prey On Life are highlighted as key transitional records.

For:Fans of progressive/post-metal, post-hardcore and experimental metal; readers of DeBaser reviews.

Burst, with each of their albums, have shown they are never content to settle for what they've become, which could be viewed from two perspectives; on one hand, a desire not to repeat themselves in any way; on the other, an inability to adapt to their own identity.

In today's world, there are plenty of bands that combine metal and American-style hardcore sounds, and the risk of coming across bands that rehash clichés without the slightest originality is not low at all. Burst certainly cannot be categorized into this group, quite the opposite.
