THE REVIEW

I confess that I don't like punk rock, but the excellent catchiness of this album made me make an exception to the rule.

There are flaws: quite intense but short tracks passing through the banality of lyrics and music, banality that at least does not necessarily correspond to ugliness. The atmosphere is very different and decidedly better than that of Green Day: it's a more complete and less irritating punk rock, despite all its limitations: energetic songs like "Dumpweed," "Dysyntery Gary" (Gary's dysentery?!) "Anthem" (banality made into a song) and the famous "All The Small Things" are contrasted with songs much less suitable to the group such as "Adam's Song" (great video clip), "Don't Leave Me" and especially "Mutt" (with an atmosphere that definitely detaches from punk to reach a rather peculiar atmosphere). The other successful single, "What's My Age Again?" is another great tune. There are also 2 other gripping tracks not elevated to single status: "Going Away To College," which is often performed at concerts, and "The Party Song," relegated to the album and almost forgotten. Despite all this, this album, which brought Blink 182 international success, remains too tied to a rather simplistic and bare environment.

Summary by Bot

Though the reviewer generally dislikes punk rock, Blink-182’s Enema Of The State stands out for its catchy, energetic tracks. The album displays a more polished and less irritating style compared to peers like Green Day, despite simplistic lyrics and brief song lengths. Key singles include “All The Small Things” and “What’s My Age Again?” with some tracks diverging from pure punk. Overall, the album is engaging but remains somewhat tied to a simple punk environment.

'Adam's Song... an absolute masterpiece by the Californian band, which through a lively yet melancholic melody succeeds in conveying the sadness of a suicide case.'

The rest, I’m sorry to say, is just a lot of noise and strumming from stoners.

"A CD that made history and is worth buying, listening to, and re-listening to, to absorb it into your skin."

"Having one of the best drummers out there (whom I consider the best in the entire world) can certainly be handy."

"An album lacking content, but as mentioned, with the sole goal of an easy refrain."

"The lead voice of the group is Tom Delonge, and calling it unbearable and childish is an understatement."

That man created the pop punk sound of the 2000s.

An album I would sleep with if it were a person.

One of the most overrated albums of all time... instead turns out to be one of the most irritating ever.

I absolutely hate Tom’s voice; it is nothing short of unbearable.
