THE REVIEW

The range of action in which Arsen Palestini operates is very wide. And from this premise, you can already tell that we are dealing with a fresh album, full of citations and sounds that make the storyline very enjoyable and at times surprising. Surprising are the opening track, Arte da dare a te, which is a powerful electro-funk sung and rapped in Italian, complete with spine-tingling freestyle rhymes, and the beautiful Mare buio, a track halfway between electro and synth-pop, but with a pace between trance and almost reggae offbeat rhythms, making this piece a hit for people who certainly do not watch Big Brother and do not listen to Sanscemo’s trash. Around these two pillars of the album, there is a mosaic of sound inserts ranging from jazz to afro, to easy listening, to echoes of the Maghreb, to dusty carillons discovered in some squat (ah, the squats... little paradises of anarchy from the past). A style patchwork as was in vogue about two decades ago, when “cut’n’paste” was a must. Forever “cut and sew” Arsen… Keep it up!
