Surreal like the scene from Magnolia where frogs rain from the sky, liquid and supercool like Guillermo del Toro's The Shape of Water, Oceano is a magnificent postmodern pop record with the credentials of indie, dream pop, with a healthy addition, here and there, of psychedelia. At times it throws you off with an almost silly drift (like in the chorus of "In piedi sulle pinne" where it parodies a historic Carosello Negroni ad from the old days… the stars are many… Got it, right?) but generally, given the initial premise of an upside-down world (fish have conquered the world (in the first track, The Fishing of Humans), nothing else could be expected. Imaginative in the lyrics, Huomorales surpasses himself in the beautiful Tracheotomia, a beautiful dreamy pop song that brings to mind a sort of Morrissey plunged into Stefano Benni's The Bar Under the Sea. Aquatic.
