WHAT A FANTASTIC STORY LIFE IS.

2004 - Uncle Antonello brings us back to the record stores to let us listen to his latest work!! “My name is Antonio and I am a songwriter. (but weren't you Antonello ''), my name is Aysha and like a song I am the fourth of three thousand people (hmm!!)”, anyway Antonio / Antonello, the single in question does not disappoint expectations as it was written by Venditti (lyrics) and a distinguished composer by the name of Maurizio Fabrizio. Great insights, some a bit dramatic “of my father and my mother on this cross,” then the stroke of genius: “My name is Laura and I'm a graduate!!!! After a thousand competitions I work as a clerk (which is nevertheless a very respectable job). The live piece is a bomb (our live probably has one of the best line-ups of live musicians); “Io e mio fratello” sung with the friend/enemy De Gregori adds nothing new to the Vendittian landscape, even if it is worth listening to.

“Lacrime di pioggia” another good single, both the lyrics and the melody, moves on to “Non c'è male” a previously unreleased track not written by the Roman singer-songwriter but by a relatively unknown Tiziano Toniutti: the song fits well in the singing of the already mentioned core de Roma, it sounds like an invective “there's a bomb on the way inside every poor moron” and continues with “I am a child of the wind because my father was a partisan” the lyrics reflect the Venditti of the 70s and honestly the song flows quickly with a great rhythm and crazy choirs (great single).

We move to “con che cuore” written by multiple hands, captivating in its languid pace; with “estate rubino” Venditti informs us that he can still surprise us with original lyrics “I wait for the sun on us, like a giant assassin it will save the heroes” (what does it mean?? I don't know but it sounds good so he can sing it)

“Ruba” a track from 1973 written for Mia Martini

It concludes with the ironic and sharp “Il sosia”, it's unclear to whom it's sincerely dedicated: “I take all the people's boos to the face
I work hard as the president's double” and continues: “when I'm alone I travel in the driver's seat
going home every evening is an achievement
left-wing
internationalist
a communist victory
communist!!!

And here we like the Antonello who retraces his steps, it had been missing for quite a while!!!!!

Overall an excellent album with absolute gems like “Il sosia”, and “Non c'è male” (especially in the textual part)

It’s incredible to think that this bland songwriter is the same author of “Lilly” and “Compagno di scuola”.

Should you ever get the idea to buy this album, do one thing: go retrieve any of the last 5 albums by the national Antonello, write any lyrics yourself, and sing over them. The result would surely be superior to this useless jumble of words and sounds.
