The twists of fate lead this character (we are in the mid-'80s) to attend the fourth year of high school in the States (thanks AFS/Intercultura!).

There, the twists of fate make him meet a Norwegian girl who is doing the same thing with the same organization.

The two, after the year as exchange students, more or less casually stay in contact.

After several years, the twists of fate bring them together in Switzerland. They decide that perhaps it's time to listen to what the twists of fate themselves suggest.

They live in Bolzano (wondering if it might be better to live in Bergen instead) and have two wonderful children.
