I was mistakenly diagnosed in 1995 with chronic paranoid schizophrenic syndrome. Let me explain: after having a minor accident while passing under scaffolding on a bridge, I hit my head on an innocent tube, slightly injuring myself and bleeding. In Piazza S. Lorenzo in Genoa, I found some carabinieri who, seeing me frightened, helped me get an ambulance. At the hospital emergency room, I asked to be admitted because I wanted to sleep away from home after arguing with my mother, but the doctors did not consider admission necessary. So I pretended to be about to faint, staggering on my legs (Factitious Disorder for physical pathology), so they admitted me to a psychiatric ward.
I am under treatment at a Mental Health Center in Genoa, receiving an injection once a month and having a session with a psychiatrist. I am 68 years old.
