THE REVIEW

The most beautiful pop-rock album in the history of Italian music is dated 1992, and it's the debut of "883"... who aren't actually 883, but just the two of them. Max Pezzali sings great and writes songs that are a blast, while Mauro Repetto dances, dances, dances but mostly dances like a real dancer who has studied many different styles of dance even though, in truth, he has never studied dance.
They are called "883" in honor of the Harley Davidson motorcycle, and just like this wonderful bike, they are powerful, loud, and go incredibly fast on the charts, leaving other Italian singers eating dust.

The first track is already a masterpiece! "Non me la menare": a powerful electronic thrash rock with very experimental massive guitar sounds, making Tom Morello look like Enrico Ciacci (Little Tony's guitarist brother) in comparison. Max Pezzali's anger is relatable, and it becomes natural to scream with him (Non me la menare, non capisco cosa vuoi, tanto lo sapevi che non ero come voi, a me piacciono le birre scure e le moto da James Dean, non quelle stronzate che si dicono nei film).
-The second song is for a megagalactic pogo with a surprise speed-metal ending!
It's called “S’inkazza” and was inspired by the nagging of his mother. After all, who hasn't had the same coexistence issues with their parents, who always harp on minor annoyances (quando ti fai troppe docce, quando proprio non ne fai, quando lasci le mutande in giro, quando il lesso non lo vuoi... questa casa non è un albergo per fare quello che vuoi non ne possiamo più io ti avverto dei porci comodi tuoi)…
-"6/1 Sfigato", is a tough protest rap against certain truly unfortunate and annoying types that everyone has met at least once in their life and who deserved a song like this (hai comprato pure il cellulare, da tua madre tu ti fai chiamare, per far finta di essere uno importante, chiamo dopo sono in mezzo alla gente, fingi di essere come Berlusconi pieno di ragazze e di milioni... Quando vai nei bar fai un po' la star, tu ti metti sempre accanto agli specchi, poi ti guardi dritto fisso negli occhi, e la mano passi in mezzo ai capelli, dici "UE MARONNA TROPPO BELLI").
-"Te la tiri" is the continuation of the previous track in a way, but it's dedicated to those girls who flaunt it (cammini cammini cammini mini, facevi prima ad uscire in bikini, si vede tutto di tutto di più, e tu che tiri la gonna più su, però tu vuoi fare la donna all'antica quella che ti fa vedere la * house * – here the great Max self-censors because to rhyme he would have had to say * fica * - but then you back out I don't want, first I check your wallet)
"Hanno ucciso l’uomo ragno" is beastly, it truly has become a legend and I wouldn't even know how to comment on it. You know it, right?
The stratospheric "Con un deca" is a nostalgic ballad in the style of Vasco with lyrics worthy of Mogol (con un deca non si può andar via, non ci basta neanche in pizzeria, fermati un attimo all'automatico, almeno a piedi non ci lascerà, in questa città, è l'ora che si tiran fuori le idee, per diventare miliardari anche se, esiste già quel che vogliamo inventare).
The phenomenal "Jolly Blue" is a pure 100% hard rock in the style of early Bon Jovi. Dedicated to the beloved arcade, but above all to adolescence, it has a beautiful autobiographical but mostly self-critical text (noi né ricchi né barboni solo un gruppo di ciglioni, sempre in giro a far casino mai paura di nessuno... eravamo proprio tanti deficienti tutti quanti, una ragazza che ci stava forse al massimo ti dava, un bacino sulla bocca poi a casa non si tocca).
"Lasciati toccare" is a majestic trip-hop for total fun with an arrangement worthy of the best Prince. At the beginning of each verse, you can even hear a woman moaning sexually! The lyrics are mischievously sharp (Lasciati toccare fa sentire cosa c'è, lasciati slacciare sei una libidine, lasciati toccare fa sentire cosa c'è, lasciati toccare sei una libidine).
The amazing "Il problema" is a pop-funky that doesn't retreat into the usual musical clichés and once again Max makes us reflect on the world's problems (Il solito signore che porta fuori il cane alle tre invece di dormire, fa la conta dei lampioni come noi chissà perché... Il problema è che noi siamo cresciuti qui, il problema è che diciamo sempre di si, il problema è che non ci decidiamo mai, il problema mi sa tanto che siamo noi.)
What a shame, the album is already over... but the last grandiose song "Lasciala stare" is the most romantic! Here the great Max surprises us with his audacity and a nastiness we did not suspect.
Great 883, beautiful album, but I like them all, even Max's solo works.
Max, you're such a legend. I adore you.

(Ok, I felt like joking, but all in all, I think it's the best of 883/Pezzali... and every now and then, for a laugh with friends, after having drunk quite a bit... it can be sympathetically listened to)

Listening to this record back then, I loved it a lot because it talked about situations I experienced almost daily; listening to it today... still, because it brings my mind back to those fantastic days.

Paraphrasing Elio e le connesse Storie Tese, 'it makes me laugh when I’m sad, it makes me laugh when I’m happy, it makes me laugh when I’m median, basically it always makes me laugh.'
