“Fantasy, Sci-Fi & Compagnia Cantante”

Kingem Records

An album full of songs to leaf through

Fantasy, Sci-Fi & Compagnia Cantante: Zondini's new record is a musical journey through memory, disenchantment, and poetic resistance. Ten tracks that tell of a bittersweet escape toward inner worlds, truer than the real ones.

There is a line, in Gentile Donzella, that sums up Zondini's entire poetic universe: “milioni di stelle sotto cieli di velluto.” It's a soft, almost tactile image that conveys the emotional tone of Fantasy, Sci-Fi & Compagnia Cantante, the new work by the Romagnolo singer-songwriter released by Kingem Records.

The album is a concept record revolving around two symbolic figures – Fantasy and Sci-Fi – young people escaping from a devastated world, more morally than materially. There’s no linear plot, but rather fragments: sonic postcards alternating between melancholy, irony, and poetic resistance. The opening track tastes like an emotional “insert coin”: dreamy keyboards, shimmering guitars, a gentle pop sound that isn’t escapism but a conscious choice.

Gentile Donzella stands out with bass and drums in the foreground, almost new wave, while the guitars retain a retro elegance. It's an anthem to lost tenderness set in an imaginary Italy: a parish hall bar, a jukebox, a secret garden. Zondini doesn’t indulge in sterile nostalgia, but uses it as a lens to observe the present.

The official video, made entirely with AI Runway Gen-4 technology, expands the imagery without betraying the track’s delicacy. It's not a technical exercise but a lucid dream in 16:9: floating pans, suspended landscapes, an archetypal female figure moving through post-romantic scenes. Here, artificial intelligence doesn’t replace the author but amplifies him.

The rest of the album hosts danceable grooves (Gruppo Sanguigno #404), cinematic strings (Mondstat), floating ballads (Romantasy), and Kraftwerk-like electronic detours (Cracked). Everything maintains a luminous, almost '60s lightness, which is Zondini's true signature.

The album, released on March 6, was preceded by the video of Gentile Donzella and the celebratory EP Io Vorrei (30th Anniversary EP). After the official release, two alternative versions will follow: Fantasy, Sci-Fi & Compagna Mutante I (March 13) and Volume II (March 20), parallel universes that further expand the concept.
