THE REVIEW

I find them where I left them. Or rather, they find me, delighting my synapses. The older they get, the more they regress, the whiter the hair in the videos I watch nodding my head becomes, the less seriously they take themselves. Just listen to "Strong Mind," definitely a top-notch number for my ears. Head-on clashes between alien guitars and an out-of-tune piano, breaks and then counter-breaks, pseudo-solos, little choruses, fuzz, and counter-fuzz form a hybrid of 70s-style country, soul, and rock. The playful bass summarizes well the sensations they convey, as if we were on rides, blissfully tossed up and down.

This second LP or miracle (depending on the listener) is a continuous nod to "classic" rock history, with generous doses of pop made in Liverpool. There's not a single track that doesn't make me smile, that doesn't agree with me. Lullabies, cowbells, gongs, all lovingly out of place and even if this time they've deviated a bit too much towards early '70s post-hippie sounds, I forgive them, I love them just like before, more than before. And no one gives them the time of day, probably because it's too simple to comprehend the wonder of albums like this, precious like a friend you can count on, like the book that makes you dream, like a smile in the mirror of the soul.

With all their limitations, it's the raw pebbles like this and not the milestones that get inside you to settle in. Falling in love by pressing play, and as the last song "Now That I’ve Got You" goes: our love is loud. I'm sure McCartney is proud of you guys.
