The Yeah Yeah Yeahs are a band from New York, like the Strokes, Calla, Interpol, etc., but that's another story.

There are three of them: guitar, drums, and vocals.
Karen O, the singer, exudes boundless energy, so much that she could seem like the younger sister of Iggy Pop. She has a sexy look, polished but not excessive; her startling voice is hysterical yet sensual, wild, and convulsive.

The YYYs have very extensive expressive abilities: inspired by noise and blues, they do not deny their love for Sonic Youth and Jon Spencer, but their dirty sound is spontaneous, direct, and nonchalant, at times almost punk.

The songs are resolved in a couple of minutes through wild notes of rock'n'roll; the lyrics often talk about sex, love, and broken hearts... They're not the careless copy of the Strokes, remember that, but in the last three songs (Maps, Y Control, Modern Romance) they sound a lot like Interpol. Magnificent.

Perhaps the most deserving album of the year (in its genre) alongside the Kills.
