Wilbur Smith (1933–2021) was a South African novelist best known for adventure novels set in Africa, including the Courtney and Egyptian/Nile series.

Born 9 January 1933 in Ndola, Northern Rhodesia (now Zambia); first major novel When the Lion Feeds (1964); died 13 November 2021. Widely known for long-running series set in Africa and for combining historical research with adventure plots.
