THE REVIEW

United States. 1985. "Shark Attack" is released, one of the fastest thrash albums in the history of the genre, so much so that Evans (Cryptic Slaughter) described the group as the only one that surpassed the untouchable Slayer in power on stage!

The recording quality is not the best, but it ensures a thrash nastiness that makes this frantic journey through horror and disgust enjoyable... and in this regard, note the pillow-track "Puke" which consists of almost a minute of retching and vomiting!!
The influence of hardcore on this band is immediately apparent from the drum tempos that sometimes touch the blast-beat; the guitars, with their rasping distortion, churn out one never identical, never clichéd riff after another; the bass line perfectly cements this barrage. Continuous tempo changes and stop-and-go create the flow that takes us through these 13 tracks; we take a breath at the start of the penultimate "Frettboard gymnastics", an instrumental piece that begins with a slow arpeggio to start a crescendo that will crush us for the remaining 5 minutes.

To better convey with my words the power of this band, I attach one of the tracks I personally prefer: "Napalm shower".
