American sludge/stoner metal trio from Wilmington, North Carolina, known for heavy, gritty riffs and Southern-influenced doom.

Weedeater is an American sludge/stoner metal band. The lineup has included vocalist-bassist Dave "Dixie" Collins (formerly frontman of Buzzov-en), guitarist Dave "Shep" Shepherd and drummer Keith "Keko" Kirkum (as noted in DeBaser reviews). The album God Luck And Good Speed was produced in large part by Steve Albini and was released on the Southern Lord label (both facts referenced in the DeBaser review).

Two DeBaser reviews praise Weedeater's heavy, sludge/stoner sound, southern influences and strong riffs while calling out limited originality. God Luck And Good Speed is noted for Steve Albini's production and unexpected touches. Jason...The Dragon is described as concise, filthy and effective. Both reviews rate the releases around the middle (3/5).

For:Fans of sludge, stoner and doom metal; listeners interested in Southern-influenced heavy music and raw, riff-driven albums.

They eat it, as their moniker suggests. They get high like buffaloes and then start churning out moldy riffs as powerful as Gundam's erection.

Unkempt beards, guitars, basses, drums, Southern shirts with cut-off sleeves, weed, bourbon, and Black Sabbath are the primary ingredients (not necessarily in that order) that make up this musical offering from the esteemed Southern Lord.
