Change of course for Warknife. If with the debut "Dream of Desolation" the Lecce-based band seemed inclined towards the thrash/death metal sounds of the '90s, in "Amorphous" there has been a decisive restyling that places them today among the most interesting acts of the current "core" scene. Their sound is the result of experimentation taken to extreme levels, where every single piece has been inserted with meticulous care just like the different melodic scenarios present within the songs. The final result is an album that expresses itself on decidedly high levels in terms of songwriting but perhaps a tad too calculated in every part, which makes it, at times, cold and surgical to listen to.

A completely personal consideration, of course, because—as mentioned previously—"Amorphous" is an album that perfectly describes the current status of most metal bands today, ready to load their proposal with input to the point of exhaustion, sometimes even confusing the listener. It's hard to say what genre these Warknife propose: within each track we find references to Machine Head, Misery Signals, the post scene, and even something that brings them closer to Isis and The Ocean. In short, mentally quick people, noteworthy musicians who certainly have much to express in terms of expressiveness. The Apulian group is undoubtedly a product of these sound trends, adept at spreading a fascinating word while being aware that this is just the beginning.

Too many paths taken in this album, too many messages sent to the listener, precise choices are needed capable of marking the DNA of a project with decidedly convincing and rich foundations. Presented in a beautiful digipack format, "Amorphous" is the classic album suitable for a demanding audience in terms of songwriting but at the same time full of such fury that it can even be well absorbed by the teen audience, a work at times universal that bodes well for the future of this band.
