Rating: Original, feminine, and yet still heavy metal.
This is in summary what the Volnaya Staya offer, a quintet from Moscow composed entirely of girls (among whom, 2-3 are really 'beautiful young ladies').
The album "Staya" (in Sanskrit 'truth') was released in 2007, and it certainly feels the influence of the most popular metal bands worldwide, but these girls manage to imprint some uniqueness in a few tracks, also thanks to singing in Russian.
The songs stay more or less on the same level, with beautiful guitar sounds (Julie and Nataliya) for the proposed genre and with Ksenia's clear voice standing out from the few and quite weak choruses. The bass-drum rhythmic base (Marina-Svetlana) diligently performs its task.
The title track and the following "Za Toboj" are, in my opinion, the best moments of the album, while "Daj Me Ognya" and in general the slower songs give more of a sense of déjà vu despite being played very well.
A decent classic metal disc, for those few times I feel like listening to HM and that certainly stands out from the umpteenth work of the Stracco-varius or the Rosphody.
