Starting from the premise that originality is not at home, in fact, it is not in the henhouse (their rehearsal room), I downloaded from winmx "Il Suicidio dei Samurai", the third work for the first time self-produced artistically by the three guys from Bergamo (+ Fidel, the new keyboard addition), after high-profile figures like Giorgio Canali (CSI now PGR) and Manuel Agnelli (Afterhours) had been at the console for the first albums.
Speaking of originality, which absolutely cannot be found in Verdena, not even from a textual point of view, slightly improved with this album but still under the usual "teeeeeeee e meeeee, nienteeeee". The direct references in this album beyond the usual Nirvana, broaden, and call into question Muse, filled with vocal parts, harmonic turns, and breaks very similar to the recent "Absolution".

But at the end of the day, this album is very pleasant to listen to, powerful and dramatic in some of its verses.
It starts with the drums and the 70s riff of "Logorrea (esperti all'opera)", and continues with their classic single "Luna". They seem to have found a balance between the simplicity of their first album (Verdena) and the second rich in sonic branches (Solo un grande sasso), and you can hear this in tracks like "Mina", "Balanite", the Queens of the Stoneage-like "Elefante" and so on until reaching "Glamodrama", the most Muse-like moment of the album.
Still echoes of the usual Sonic Youth and Motorpsycho, and Verdena package their best album, always enclosed in their alternative rock, where despite the addition of keyboards (perhaps they could have been used more instead of the usual backdrops), it is still fucking guitar, bass (strictly distorted) and drums.

The new Italian music does not pass through Bergamo, even if what they propose is done very well.

Tracklist Lyrics and Videos

01   Logorrea (Esperti all'opera) (03:55)

02   Luna (03:32)

Dipingimi distorto come un angelo anormale che cade
Offendimi, se odiare è un crimine il prezzo è uguale e fa male
E vedo te, io e te, niente conta in fondo
Illumina annulla le paure oh luna nulla è uguale
Sarò così onesto come se tu fossi il mare, il mare
E vedo te, io e te, niente conta e crolla, crolla
E vedo te, io e te, niente conta in fondo.

03   Mina (04:27)

04   Balanite (04:48)

05   Phantastica (04:01)

06   Elefante (03:06)

07   Glamodrama (06:27)

08   Far fisa (04:23)

09   17 tir nel cortile (05:11)

10   40 secondi di niente (04:44)

11   Il suicidio del samurai (04:31)

"Verdena know how to play, and even better than many others much more celebrated than them."

"For now, the best Italian band around. Surprising."

By PortoFolio

This CD is undoubtedly true and heartfelt, each track a small masterpiece.

Just think of 'Logorrea'... and 'Glamodrama', with its instrumental part so hypnotic it makes you drool.

From their very first album, Verdena have represented an anomaly in the agonizing Italian rock scene.

Il Suicidio Dei Samurai is a fully mature and focused album where moments of excellence do not lack.

By Taurus

'Il Suicidio Del Samurai' could be described as a summary and more fluid version of the previous record.

Alberto’s menacing guitars herald a cyclone that hits the listener with 'Logorrea (esperti all’opera)'.

Once their show is over, it’s the turn of the 'hosts,' who immediately make it clear that they haven’t abandoned their sound violence after Wow.

The new CD might not be on the level of previous works, but live, the three (four, given the addition of a new touring member for this tour) never disappoint thanks to their energy and the sonic impact of their pieces.
